Marton Csokas (Hungarian pronunciation: [maːɾton tʃoːkaːʃ]; born June 30, 1966) is a New Zealand film and television actor.
Csokas was born in Invercargill, New Zealand. His mother, a nurse, is of Irish and Danish descent, and his Hungarian-born father, also named Márton Csókás, worked as a mechanical engineer. Csokas attended King's College, Auckland, and graduated from Toi Whakaari, The New Zealand Drama School in 1989.
One of Csokas' more notable roles is Lord Celeborn in the films The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He has also made repeated appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess as Xena's past love and ally, Borias. He also played Jarda in The Bourne Supremacy.
Csokas holds dual New Zealand and Hungarian citizenship. Csokas's stage credits include plays by Tom Stoppard and William Shakespeare in the 1990s in New Zealand, and in Australia Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (2007) and Peribáñez (2006) with Company B.
He has been involved with actress Eva Green since they met in 2005 on the set of Kingdom of Heaven. In 2008, after three years of a long distance relationship, he moved to London to live with her.
He is single, split with Eva Green at some point in 2009. He lives in Los Angeles, Venice Beach. He is currently starring in The Little Foxes at the New York Theatre Workshop through the end of October, 2010.
